Apr11 - A weekend away...in KL

Time for a break after big races such as Ironman Langkawi (Feb) & Aviva (Mar) until the next biggies like Singapore Sundown (May) & KL Marathon (June).

Then I remembered that I still have a voucher for a night stay at Berjaya Times Square hotel in KL.

Well, the last time KS & I stayed at JW Marriott Hotel KL was great as well, except we didn't get breakfast, but it was ok I guess coz we had the NB 30km the next day. So we wouldn't have been able to get back in time to use it anyway.

Deluxe Room on Club Floor

left side, entrance to toilet,
right side, entrance to bathroom.
separated by a door

Welcome platter of fruits, biscuits & chocolates

guess who i bumped into at BTS?
Daniel, part-time job ah? :p

Berjaya Times Square shopping mall was a shopping paradise for imported Korean/Japan/China clothing. Big Banners like "ALL for RM25" is really attractive. I mainly target the RM10 instead :p But this time, it's the gladiator shoes. It's a new trend now. Went into a few shops, comparing prices & sizes till I picked the right one. Somehow KS might recommend one, but i'll pick the other. Opposite attract I guess.

samsung corby collection..yummy

While I was at Sungai Wang, I came across a mobile phone stall that had a very nice sliding phone going for just RM499. It had the latest Qwerty keypad. I've always round it kind in style to type my sms like a notepad. But since it was a spur of a moment, I decided to walk away.

The next day, I wanted to check out external dvd-rom at Low Yat Plaza coz mine already "hampus". Once again i came across THAT phone. This time going for RM480. My will is strong. I walked away. Then we came across Kingston Technology (Oh, KS also looking for cheap phone), THAT phone was going for RM450. That was all I could take. The barrier has fallen.

Goodbye my lovely, Sony Ericson W580i
I've sorry to have dropped you so many times
Especially when you haven't even gotten the chance to celebrate 1year old

Hello Samsung GT-B3310
Only 2 colours as it was only 1week only
Aqua and grey

I've been really high on the korean band, Big Bang. I noticed that they were advertising the LG phone Lollipop.
It comes in blue, pink & grey. It's a flip phone where when then phone rings, the cover lights up ANDDD u can set the graphic display for each caller. So when someone eg. Bob calls, then the word BOB appears on the cover. well, it doesn't have to be Bob, it's up to u wat u wanna set. Wayyy cool!!

But when I had the phone in my hand, it wasn't anything fancy. It's a pretty basic phone, long-ish and pretty. That's it. Oh well, pretty boys for pretty phone?? I still love them!! *drool*

oh, and I weigh 45.3kg that weekend...muhaahah..

Apr4 - Ultraman Yip's birthday

The reason why we call him ultraman yip was because Yip is his name and in sports distances; Ultra runner is a runner who runs >42km. Ultraman is for distances more than an Ironman for triathlon (swim-bike-run). I'm not sure if he's done that before (not officially) but he's someone we all know that "Impossible is Null" (his website http://impossibleisnull.blogspot.com/).

Invited a few close friends for a dinner at Food Foundary Section 17. Keat Seong & I bought him a little present which represented him.

Ultraman Yip was actually sporting about the present

The most common question that went around "So what's your next race?" :p

*slurp slurp*

*yummmmmyyy*

standing : Tey, Frank, KS, Poong, Ray Hee, Khoo, Ray Ng
Sitting : Julie, me, Yip, gome dunno ur name, Mich

And then we end the nite with ..... *hahahhha*

Thanks to Julie, Mich & Tey for the pics

Apr11 - Cycling Malaysia (Roses Among Thorns)

I think about a month ago when Debbie invited myself & a couple of girls, as Cycling Malaysia magz wish to interview women cyclist about cycling. Mich, Elaine, Hsing Ling, Lydia, Debbie & myself met up with them at Oriental Pavillion, Jaya33.

The magz comes out every 2 months, so our issue came out in April. It's so pink!!! To commemorate International Women's Month.

6 mountain bikers & 6 road cyclist were interviewed

I only posted up the road cyclist coz i'm in it :D

HsingLing, Lydia, Elaine

Some basic questions asked were "how we started cycling?", "do we feel intimidated so many guys around?".

me, Mich, Debbie

More specific questions like "any luck with the male cycle?", "do we put on makeup when cycling?", "do we cycling during menstruation?", "any leakages before?"

Well, for more info about the 8 page interview, please grab your pinky magz from any magz counter for only RM7.90.

Apr7 - Something up my sleeves

I've been itching to do some sewing quite recently. All these started when I kept seeing designer clothes in magazines / internet. And I would think to myself; I can do that. All my sewing skills started from Kemahiran Hidup in Form 3.

When I turn 21 (i think), my mom noticed my interest, decided to 50/50 with me investing on a sewing machine which cost RM700+. It's been like 10years and that faithful machine is still going strong. The light bulb switch is gone & the bobbin tends to tangle quite often. I didn't even know there was a specific "doctor" for it.

Anyway. here are a few of my/magazine design creations for the past few years :-

taken at Deloitte's Dinner & Dance 2006 - Best Dress Female.
Surprisingly I won. Theme was Black & White
I bought a loooong black glittery material & pass it with a skirt design to the tailor. Wore it with a bare back dress. Skirt was taken off for the after-party

taken at Deloitte's Dinner & Dance 2007
Nominated for Best Dress Female but lost :(

Theme was Under The Sea
Like my previous idea, I wanted a long dress during dinner then a short dress for the after-party. I made seashell like bra & layer skirt.
The bottom skirting was rough sewed onto the dress
Once it was time to party, I took out the threading then hit the dance floor w/o tripping over my train.

I've always fancied Japanese culture.
Bon Odori 2007 was my 1st after hearing so much about it.
I bought a yukata (summer kimono) off ebay in Oz
but i didn't come with a obi (belt)

I could only come up with something that looks like an obi off pictures online but the material was waaaay off the original obi.
Plus the yukata was too big for me & the colour was pretty faded.
Oh well, i might come up with something else next time

My 1st cosplay at Anime Fiesta in 2007.
Traveled all the way to Malacca for this.

Since my hair was short, I had to look for a character that I can reflect
Natsumi from You're Under Arrest anime was the best
Plus the costume was the simplest to come up with at the short notice

Ran my first maiden marathon at Sydney Marathon 2008
By the time I got back, there was only L size finisher shirt
I liked spaghetti strap tops so snip-snip the top off & added lace all over

Was working in Brisbane in 2008 and the Dinner & Dance theme was Fairy Tale I didn't want to rest a costume so I decided to sew one. Influenced by internet again I went as an Irish Fairy aka Leprechaun I couldn't sew as sexy as the picture eg. short skirt & exposing tummy Bought the pot at a costume shop & glued chocolate coins wrappers on top The hat was the amazing part. I bought a green gift bag & somehow came up with the hat. Then stuck it to my hairband.
And I did this all in 1-month *stress stress*

back in M'sia at my recent company, FK Christmas party 2009. I was selected as Santarina. At first the costume they gave me was exactly as the picture on the left. I'm like errr.. I didn't want my arms to be restricted so I separated the sleeves & shorten the skirt
The committee insisted I wear the braided Santarina hat

FK's Dinner 2009 at Westin Langkawi. Yes, we had our dinner & company trip at Langkawi. No theme but costumes were all covered. I rented a Chinese Warrior costume but wanted to change into something else later. Weirdest thing was I won Best Dress Female with the Chinese Warrior.
After that I changed into my Cupid costume.
I dun quite know how to make the skirt tutu enuff.
Netting doesn't work that well.
Tried sewing a corset for the 1st time with the heartshape on the top.
Made the bow & arrow using a metal hanger.
Sewed chiffon sleeves & red velvet hearts on the skirt.

My latest creation in 2010, I did my maiden 70.3 at Aviva Singapore.
I got a dri-fit S size t-shirt which seems like a M size to me.
Snip-snip, I took the top off to give it a off-shoulder look.
Kept the sleeves but more holes.
Added straps to make sure the sleeves don't expose too much.
Added elastic on the waist rather than figure-hugging top.

I've got something up my sleeves for the next cosplay, but it's harder than it looks. My bf was right, I can only work under pressure, where my room will be in a mess with materials and threads all over the place, and there's a deadline to meet.

Gambante jennjenn!!! You can do it!!
Just you wait for the next big thing. U won't even recognise me :p
