Oct29 - Miri Triathlon 2011-Sprint Distance (Day 2)

Saturday afternoon, Sprint Distance

Since I missed last year's race, there was a change in the swim & run route.
Swim was changed to the ocean.
Every year crocodiles keep appearing in the marina.
In 2009, it was a baby, then it grew bigger last year.
Grandpa this year with many babies????!!!!

2009, KS didn't raced the Sprint so I had my own personal photographer.
This year, since there weren't many participates in his age group & he had trained harder.
He decided to give it a try.
Race was delayed due to an accident on our bike route.
But all is well with fine weather. Just very brown waters.
The current out was strong making it extra hard to maneuver.
The swim direction was a triangle from left out, swim right, then back (1 loop)
I just realised that I'm wearing the very same trisuit as in the 2009
KS bought this for me & tri apparels are not cheap.
OK ok...cross fingers I'll get another trisuit by next year.
But only without integrated bra. Do u know how difficult it is to wear / go to the toilet with it
*sweat*
Anyway, everyone did well in this race.
Oh, the transition area was located just outside the hotel, no longer at the marina
Where we run the backway 100m trail to join back the route towards the Seahorse landmark.
I remember feeling the distance & heat in 2009, but now, it feels shorter.
7th Placing for my age group
9th Placing for KS (training totally paid off)
Award dinner where like usual the VIP was late
The stupid part was when the VIP asked to give feedback to improve on the event
Everyone was saying "VIP be on time"
We had to wait for him to arrive before the food is served
Chit chatting for nearly 1hr...hungryyyy
But still can camwhore
We were entertained by the hotel band singing Lady Gaga songs continuously.
2009 was traditional dance...now this.
Organisers, please save your money next time.

Oct28 - Miri Triathlon 2011 (Day 1)

My 2nd trip to the Annual Miri triathlon. Actually now its known as the Sarawak International Triathlon, but organisers are still the same committee. My 1st trip was in 2009, 2years ago where I raced the Sprint & OD distances on Sat & Sat.

The biggest problem in travelling for a triathlon race is the bike. Well, let's not say it in front of "it". First to service the bike, then to pack the bike. You can either bring it to the shop & get a box (also learn how to put it back together again, then dismantle & pack it again by yourself). ORRRR...find someone who has a back & borrow aka "pinjam". In some cases, they are ppl who rents it out as well. Check out my blog on 2009 Day 1. Even a bike box is heavy.
Brought my baby to Bike Pro for change of my race wheels & service.
KS dubbed this at the Food of Gods
2 bike box/bags ready for their trip
More carbo loading on the plane

We departed on Friday. A colleague recommended a taxi driving with a MPV who just lives next to KS.
Great service & soooo convenient.
A fair bit of ppl on  the same flight.
All racing the Sprint category.
Welcome to Miri
Organisers did a pretty good job in arranging for transportation for our bikes & athletes.
Total thumbs up for them.
Welcoming the triathletes!!!
We only registered our info online. Payment was only made at the venue.
So they do accept last minute entry.
If I said I would rather they just closed it, that might sound selfish.
Fellow triathlete, Richard said to limit total prize from 15th places to only 10th instead.
Then use the money for other things.
I would say, if that category has only like 4 participants, close it, then use the balance prize money for something else.
Don't leave the $$$ hanging there unused.
Registration
Next up was shopping for lunch & bananas at the nearby town.
Of course, testing the race bike route
Another thing to remember about this race is the bike route.
The hill.....its steep but thankfully short.
You can be going on 30+kmph speed that would drop to 10kmph
You just have to grind your teeth, get off saddle.
After that, it's a downhill & flat all the way to the U-turn point.
Dinner at a nearby Seafood restaurant
Race briefing by Micheal (Technical Director).

Let's get ready!!!

Nov3 - Happy birthday to meee!!!

KS told me he was taking me to USJ Taipan for my birthday dinner.
I brought my dinner clothes to work so that I could change into it.
Didn't wanna look like an "older"person =p
He kept saying we're going to Subway next door.
Lalalala....
Ohh...2nd customer...2nd Korean meal
The 2nd best thing is KBS MTV channel
Korean BBQ...yummy...now where's my ENO?
I tend to over-eat especially with BBQ
KS present to me...gave me like few days earlier
My self-controlled is getting pretty good..ekeke
My pink candy...delicious!!!
Touch screen too....wahh..gotta be extra careful over it
Beef & pork BBQ was quite good
My mouth is full in this pic
 we ordered kimchi-jeon (pancake)
Better than Kimchi-haru *shh*
The attendants would assist to BBQ the meat
Then we wrapped it with lettuce & add ingredients
Oh, & they serve with kimchi...duh
Its really nice eating korean food and entertained with korean music countdown
I was practically singing, dancing & eating....all at the same time
Thank you baby

Just FYI....the Korean House in SS2 don't give you kimchi if you have their lunch set. Seriously!!!!
KS & family bought me a cake
Family - fruit sponge cake
KS - Coffee, chocolate & cheese cake
